Creating artworks through collage has become an important part of my creative practice, which is not surprising really considering collagraph plates are a form of collage.
My way of printmaking is very unpredictable and I can end up with a lot of prints on paper that don't meet the grade to become artworks in their own right.
I use these unwanted prints and sometimes collagraph plates as material to collage with.
I always have some form of collage on the go and enjoy cutting, placing and rearranging the elements over several days
& when I am happy with the layout I take a photo to refer to during the gluing stage.
Finished collages can be presented on paper, canvas or wooden panels, on my unique handmade greetings cards, the covers of handmade sketch books & notebooks
and also as surface decoration for 3D papier-mâché vessels I have made.
