This collagraph was printed from a plate created out of a round foil lined pizza base, glue & scrim, with a added very thin etched aluminium plate.
Round shapes & circles feature a lot in my artwork, often a piece doesn't feel complete until there is a circle somewhere.
Thicker materials can be very hard to cut into perfect rounds so I will collect any thin round objects, large & small that have the potential to be printed with, things that otherwise would be discarded.
My stash of rounds & circles currently includes washers, carboard inserts from ice cream tub lids, old earrings, the inner top seals from plastic containers of milk, coins as well as pizza bases etc.
I do get funny looks from others at times due to my magpie like behaviour!
